What is the best camera to take detailed pictures of clothing?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I need a camera to take pictures of clothing for my website. I need a really good camera that will show small detail and will take clear life like pictures of the clothes. I do not know where to start, i have read reviews but dont know what all the jargon means as i know nothing about cameras. I have a £500 budget. i was looking at canon SLR cameras? Any advice appreciated.

It’s actually almost 100% down to the lighting and the model. If you use the right lighting and have a good model you can make bad clothes look good.

Find a place where you can hang a large white sheet up and has a large south facing window and you’re more than halfway there. Then get yourself a simple SLR, something like a 400D is more than enough and a 50mm f1.8 lens, you may also need a 30mm f2 lens and learn how to use the camera in Av and M modes. You should shoot around f2.8 to get the right depth of field, you also will need to shoot during the day.

What digital camera shoots the best video in low light conditions?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I go to bars a lot where they have good bands play. I would like to buy a digital camera, not a camcorder to take video clips. What is the best camera out there? There is usually low light in bars.

You should look for a didital camera that has at least an 800 to1000 ISO rating. These settings are designed for low light situations. Basically, the higher the ISO number, the better the camera (or film) will operate in low light. See the link below for some tips, tricks on getting the best pictures in low-light situations.

Night vision cameras are ok, but they only capture in the Green color spectrum.

Cheers!

What would be a good video camera for capturing a hedgehog birth?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

My hedgehog is having babies. I heard how elusive a video of an actual hedgehog giving birth is so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a low price (Under $200) video camera that can be left up all day recording. It also has to be small and easily attachable to the cage. Although those are all preferences so you can just give me the links to all suitable cameras.

I would be very careful with introducing a foreign object, especially into the the cage of a new mom. Hedgehogs are renowned for their cannibalistic behaviour often practiced when they feel threatened or unsafe with a new litter, and if a scary object with new smells and blinking lights were to be set up in what they presumed was a safe place, they babies may not have a good chance of survival.

My suggestion is to take pictures of the babies after they are two weeks old and you begin handling them, otherwise you may end up with a video of your hedgie eating her young.

Good luck!

How do I dispose of my broken camera lens?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I broke it when I let it knock against something :( and I got it replaced. It’s from a Canon Rebel E05. I’m pretty sure it can’t be fixed because the part is inside the lens part where it connects to the camera. But I could be wrong, if I am, let me know that too Please?

Donate it to a camera repair station. They may be able to use some of its components and what is left over will be disposed of in an environmentally sound way

does camera lenses make the image quality better?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

well i saw this video in youtube and the video quality of it was just amazing. and the guy said he just used a Nikon D90 to shoot it along with 17-50mm lenses. does lenses make image quality better?
i’m a camera noob so i don’t know much.

Since you do take the picture through the lens, yes. A lens is the ONLY thing between the subject and the film or sensor…YES, it does.
Most photog’s will avoid cheap lenses, as they can screw up the image in many ways.

Careful focusing, exposure, and composition will make or break an image too.

What is a good, but inexpensive Digital SLR Camera to buy for someone that has never used an SLR before?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I really would love to upgrade to an SLR camera from my point and shoot. I am an avid scrapbooker and I love to get shots of random things. I am expecting in November and we have some home improvement things that need to happen before the baby is born, so price will be a factor. I currently have a Kodak Z712, so I would love to have something that has a higher zoom than what I am currently using!

Thanks so much for any information.

IF this is your first fully adjustable camera, there will be a learning curve no matter which DSLR camera you buy … a $500 one or a $5,000 one.

The most bang for the buck is still the Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm lens for under $470 at Amazon.

How do cameras know what the world looks like?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I don’t understand how cameras can capture what the world looks like when it looks different to all kinds of different animals. For example, some animals see in black and white, others are color blind, so how is it that cameras capture exactly what we see and not like other animals? Or is it just that we can only see some of the colors the camera really captures?

Cameras that you buy to take pictures are made specifically to capture the light that the human eye can see (in pretty much the same way that your eye does). There are many other types of cameras – night vision, IR, UV, electron, etc. all see different kinds of radiation.
