great overall explanation. i just wanted to add about that ‘colour distortion’ on super telephoto lenses – the distortion is called ‘chromatic
aberration’ and can be corrected by stopping down if the lens is uncorrected, or there are acromatic and apocromatic lenses that correct this. hope this comes useful
