What Canon camera lens do you recommend for everyday use and travel?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Right now i’m just using the standard 18-55mm lens that came with my camera but I’d like a little better quality and maybe a little more zoom. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I recommend the Canon 28-200 because I own one. It’s built very tough, sharp, fast and accurate focus. It’s a little heavy, about 1 pound, but it will give you both the wide and reach you’ll want.

Here’s an example of what I mean by sharp, accurate focus. Look at this portrait and closely at his eyes – you can’t help but notice how sharp they are.

Oh, I nearly forgot – $400 at B&H, where I got mine. Check them here.

What Canon camera lens do you recommend for everyday use and travel?

Any of the lenses below could make good general purpose lenses (especially the EF-S lenses). It all boils down to exactly what focal length suits your needs and what your budget is.
