What video camera would be good for me?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

My friend and I are trying to record ourselves singing and playing guitar and also want to make a music video. What kind of video camera would be good for us? I know they can be expensive if we want a good one, but something under $200 would be great!

There are some basic video cameras around that are quite cheap. Check at your local camera store and tell them your budget. They may have cameras that have been traded in but still in good order. Most new cameras use built in disks or flash memory but older cameras that use digital tapes can give a good picture. If you want to make a music video you might need a tripod for the camera, and also download the recording to a computer for editing. Windows already has basic video editing software if you are on a tight budget.

So.. I make videos on youtube. But I want it to have the button so my subscribers can watch the video if they choose in HD. I’ve been searching for a way but the ways I watched are not for VIDEO CAMERAS. I can’t buy a new video recorder or whatever because my family won’t let me, so could you guys tell me how to make my videos on windows movie maker with a video camera? Thank you in advance!

Here are a couple sites and a video that should be able to give you some good information and guide you through the steps needed to make your videos HD in Windows Movie Maker!

What video camera should I get for my travels?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

I am travelling around Europe this summer for 3 weeks and i want to keep a video diary. I’m wondering which video camera i should get? Should it record to mini DVD or to memory card? (I’m not bringing a computer so wont be able to transfer my videos until i get home). Can anyone suggest a specific model? (The cheaper the better) Thanks.

A camcorder that uses memory cards would be ideal for you. You can change them when they are full and are more versatile dealing with DVDs. You did not state your budget but considering you will be traveling, you may want to use a pocket camcorder. There are many pocket-cams available, like the Sony Bloggie, Sony Webbie, and the Flips by Pure Digital. But I would recommend the Kodak Zi8. It not only records video in HD, it can also record still images at 5 mega-pixels. It uses memory cards and has an external microphone jack so you can add a mic narrate your travels, if you may. The Zi8 also uses a power charger to charge the batteries. Many pocket cams require a computer USB to charge. Just don’t forget the power receptacle adapter for European plugs.

Have a great trip.

1st stop motion with old video camera (1994)

Friday, May 21st, 2010

I was bored one day over Christmas break in 1994 and had a new video camera. It did stop-motion at 1/4 second intervals. Then I dubbed the music over the edited video using the video camera as well. Needless to say, this is where my movie-making career pretty much ended.

What is a good video camera I can get for a reasonable price?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I want to start making good youtube videos again. I only have a very old camera and my webcam. Both are crap quality and the video camera only records with tape -.-

I have a Mac, so I need something compatible with MacBooks…

I would really like a good picture and sound quality video camera that won’t burn a hole in my wallet…

What would you recommend and why?

Thanks!
~K.
