How to convert videos to edit in Windows Movie Maker

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The reason Windows Movie Maker cant detect your videos in your video camera is because it is a video format or a video type that Windows Movie Maker does not support.

Windows Movie Maker supports ASF AVI and WMV

This video converter will convert your video into AVI http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-3GP-Video-Converter.htm Its free

Once you have your video converter plug your camera in and click “browse” and find your video you want to convert and edit it.

Then click convert.

Once it is converted go to Windows Movie Maker and click “Import Video”

Then go to the document “DVDVideoSoft” and find your video.

Import it.

And now you can edit it!

Does HD video on a regular digital camera compare to a Flip camera?

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I don’t want to lug around a still camera and a pocket HD video camera. Is the video recording on the new digital point & shoots comparable to the Flip and it’s competitors, or is a dedicated video camera better?

the video quality of most digital point and shoot cameras is about equivilent to the quality of the flip video. it may be even better if the digital camera will shoot HD Video (720 or 1080)
Neither of these will compare to the quality of the better traditional video camera’s which are available today.
Another thing you may want to consider is a Digital SLR which has HD Video shooting, such as the Canon T1i or T21 or the Nikon D5000.
These will take video that is superior to anything but professional HD video cameras, for a very reasonable price.
The user interface will take some getting used to, since the camera won’t auto focus while shooting, and the zoom function will be performed by rotating the zoom dial on the lens, but I can attest that the video quality is supurb.

Is the flip video camera good for filming skateboarding?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I just want to know if the Flip video camera is good enough to capture fast tricks ( like tre flips) with good quality. So if i slowed it down on the computer it wouldnt be low quality and hard to see. If not what other good cheap cameras would be good for that.

Check out the new Casio Exilim high speed cameras. These are some of the only low budget high speed cameras available.

If you slow down video taken with any normal camera, you’ll only get jerky low quality slows.

I picked up the EX-FS10 for about $170 and the slow motion video this thing is capable of is amazing for a point & shoot…

Only downside is your subject needs to be well lit. Outside in the sun is perfect.
